The Western Piedmont 2A Conference revealed the winners of regular season and conference tournament awards following Friday’s championship game at Walkertown.
The Forbush Falcons won a second-straight WPAC Women’s Basketball Tournament Championship by defeating West Stokes in the championship game, 60-51. The Lady Falcons also won the regular season championship for the second-straight year, finishing with a perfect 12-0 record. Both the Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player and Conference Player of the Year came from Forbush.
The All-Tournament team featured one player from each team that reached the the semifinals (Surry Central and North Surry) and two players from teams in the championship game (Forbush and West Stokes). Team members include: Surry Central’s Mia McMillen; North Surry’s Hannah Moxley; West Stokes’ Emma Santoro and Hannah Spainhour; and Forbush’s Nicole Scott and Hope Grimes.
Forbush senior Parkley Hennings was named the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. Hennings only had eight points in the Falcons’ first-round win over Carver, but that shouldn’t be held against her team won 84-19 and her minutes were limited. Between the semifinal and final games, Hennings averaged 15.5 points, 13.5 rebounds, three assists, 1.5 steals, 3.5 blocks and a field goal percentage of 46.
The girl’s All-Conference Team: Forbush’s Parkley Hennings, Nicole Scott, Hope Grimes, Kyndall Ellison and Brittney Gammons; West Stokes’ Emma Santoro, Hannah Spainhour, Bree Spainhour and Sydney Cromer; Surry Central’s Mia McMillen, Megan Atkins, Jordan Westmoreland and Carlie Via; North Surry’s Hannah Moxley and Callie Allen; Walkertown’s Khaliyah McCummings and Jordan Butterfield; Atkins’ Anabel Merriam; North Forsyth’s MaKayla Kinzer; Carver’s Tionna Wright.
The girl’s All-Conference Honorable Mention Team: Forbush’s Mogan Beane and Ashley Collins; West Stokes’ Haley Brewster and Sydney Cockerham; Surry Central’s Brooklyn Lester and Jaylyn Templeton; North Surry’s Cynthia Chaire and Sarah Mauldin; Walkertown’s Allysia Binns and Claudiea Sales; Atkins’ Mary Clanda; North Forsyth’s Kaitlyn Blkley and Milijah Hall; Carver’s Jenice Wiley and Annia McRae.
Forbush’s Hennings was also named WPAC Player of the Year. In the conference, Hennings finished: first in field goal percentage (54, minimum 190 attempts), second in rebounds per game (8.5), second in blocks per game (1.5), second in free throw percentage (67, minium 70 attempts), second in double-doubles (11), third in 3-point percentage (35, minimum 20 makes), fourth in points per game (14.9), tied for fourth in steals per game (2.2) and tied for fifth in assists per game (2.6).
West Stokes’ Dillon Bobbitt was named WPAC Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year. The Lady Wildcats finished second in the conference with a 12-2 record, losing only to Forbush. West ended the season 23-5 this season, with only one senior, after going 14-12 in the 2018-19 season.
West Stokes’ won its second-consecutive boy’s WPAC tournament championship by defeating Atkins in the championship game. The Cats also won the regular season championship with a 13-1 record. Both the boys Tournament Most Outstanding Player and Conference Player of the Year came from the Wildcats.
The boy’s All-Tournament Team featured: North Surry’s Chase Swartz; North Forsyth’s Lewis Walker; Atkins’ Avante Matthews and Usef Suggs; West Stokes’ Luke Mickey and Palmer Elliott.
Wildcat senior Isaac Spainhour was voted the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player. He averaged 26.7 points in the three-game tournament. Spainhour was also named WPAC Player of the Year. Full West Stokes statistics were not available at the time of publication.

The boy’s All-Conference Honorable Mention Team: West Stokes’ Amon Conrad; Atkins’ Charlie Walker Arun Somasundarem; North Forsyth’s Jelikiah Morris-Smith; North Surry’s Chase Swartz; Walkertown’s Zion Conrad and Jalen Douglas; Forbush’s Samuel Crews; Surry Central’s Nolan McMillen and Dakota Mills; Carver’s Drashawn Johnson and Steven Thon.
West Stokes’ Dan Spainhour was named WPAC Men’s Basketball Coach of the Year. The Wildcats finished 13-1 in WPAC competition and currently have an overall record of 25-4 and are in the Elite Eight of the 2A State Playoffs. Spainhour celebrated his 475th career win and 300th at West Stokes this season.
