Westfield puts on 12 Days of Reading

The literacy committee at Westfield Elementary School put a holiday spin on its reading program there with the 12 Days of Reading Challenge last month.

Twelve faculty members videoed themselves reading a Christmas story. Each student had the opportunity to watch the video at school and answer questions from the reader. Each student that participated was entered in a drawing for prizes. Every student was also given hot chocolate and cookies during STEAM class.

Layla Lineberry was the grand prize winner of a stocking full of goodies including a tablet. Several teachers also performed a parody of the 12 Days of Christmas song for everyone. India Lambert’s kindergarten class was the December winner for most books read and Billy Pell’s class was the winner for the highest I-Ready growth.
