A car crash in Bedford County Friday night left one person dead.
It happened around 6:30 p.m. on Route 24 at Irene Drive, according to Virginia State Police.
As a tractor-trailer was stopped in the crossover on Route 24 to make a left turn onto Irene Drive, it was rear ended by a 1994 Ford Econoline E150 van, according to police.
Gerald W. Fairchild, 63, of Vinton, died at the scene.
Virginia State Police originally reported this crash to have occurred in Vinton. It was corrected Saturday morning.
The crash remains under investigation.
