Two dead after crash on I-81S in Roanoke County

Two people are dead after a crash on I-81S in Roanoke County on Monday morning, according to Virginia State Police.

Authorities say the crash happened around 2:53 a.m. at the 131.4 mile marker.

According to police, a 2019 Grand Cherokee was going south when it ran off the right side of the interstate and hit several trees.

State Police say the driver of the Jeep was identified as David Paul Boileau, 35, of Simpsonville, S.C. We’re told Mr. Boileau was wearing his seatbelt and died at the scene.

The passenger was identified as Jordan Joshua Harrell, 29, of Bronx, N.Y. State Police say Mr. Harrell was wearing his seatbelt and also died at the scene.

The Virginia State Police Crash Investigation Team was called to assist.

Investigators say speed and driver fatigue are believed to be factors in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
