Tropical Storm Ophelia to bring rain, gusty wind Friday night, Saturday

The next tropical storm is named Ophelia and brings wet weather along the Atlantic coast. It’s forecast to bring several inches of rain and tropical storm-force winds to areas along and east of Interstate 95.

That said, we’ll see some rain and wind out of it too.

The afternoon update saw winds to 60 mph with gusts slightly higher. The storm was moving slowly to the north through Wednesday and Thursday and will continue that direction this weekend.

Rain begins after midnight with some of our heaviest rain in the afternoon on Saturday. Most rain totals are less than an inch, but some rain could reach to more than two inches in Southside and Lynchburg.
