Teen student charged after stabbing during fight at Glenn High School in Kernersville, deputies say: 'Violence … will not be tolerated'

KERNERSVILLE, N.C. (WGHP) — A 16-year-old student at Glenn High School was charged after a stabbing during a fight on Monday, according to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

Jaiden Isaiah Godley, 16, is a student at GHS and is being charged with assault with a deadly weapon, inflicting serious injury.

Forsyth County Sheriff Bobby Kimbrough said a student was stabbed in a restroom at GHS at about 12:15 p.m. on Monday.

Principal Scott Munsie confirmed that the weapon used was a knife.

The victim was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and Munsie says the student is expected to make a full recovery.

The student’s father told FOX8 that his son is traumatized and no longer feels safe at school.

“My son plays football, basketball and is in the chorus. He also works at Emerald Pointe. This attack will affect his training, conditioning and practice time for football. Also, he won’t be able to play AAU basketball or track this summer. He also will miss work from Emerald Pointe,” the victim’s father said.

“We must never become complacent in acceptance of violence in our schools and against our
children. We should all be outraged,” Kimbrough said. “The FCSO will always apply all of our
assets … when it comes to the safety of our schools, students and teachers … Safety will always be paramount at the FCSO.”

Munsie says that the teen also “will face consequences under our code of conduct.”

GHS sent the following message to families on Monday.

Good Afternoon, GHS Families. This is a message from the WS/FCS Communications Department. We are aware of a fight that occurred on the Glenn campus a short time ago. We are working on details, and Principal Scott Munsie will be calling you with more shortly.

Please know that law enforcement is at the school as a precaution. We do not, at this time, have confirmation of injuries. This is NOT an ongoing situation.
