Virginia State Police have released the name of the woman who died early Monday morning.
Jennifer Marsh, of Altavista, was walking in the left lane of Route 29 south when she was hit by a 2003 Ford Crown Victoria just south of the Route 460 off-ramp, according to police.
The vehicle was unable to avoid striking the pedestrian and the driver was not hurt and will not be charged.
The crash remains under investigation.
One person is dead after a crash early Monday morning on Wards Road, according to Virginia State Police.
At 1:17 a.m., Virginia State Police responded to a crash involving a pedestrian near Lynchburg Highway.
The pedestrian died at the scene and police said the crash remains under investigation.
Police have not yet released the name of the person who died or any other information about the crash.
