One hospitalized after transformer explodes in Lynchburg

One person was hospitalized after a transformer exploded in Lynchburg on Thursday, according to the Lynchburg Fire Department. Their current condition is unknown at this time.

Lynchburg DES said more than 800 AEP customers are without power in the Boonsboro area and several stoplights are out as well.

If you come across a traffic signal that has lost power, you’re advised to treat it as a 4-way stop and use caution proceeding through the intersection.
