New details released after school bus with child on board involved in High Point crash

HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) — A crash report revealed new details after a car reportedly hit a school bus, which had a child on board, in High Point.

At about 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, police responded to a crash in the area of North Main Street and Skeet Club Road.

According to police, a 2013 Hyundai was heading north on North Main Street, approaching the Skeet Club Road intersection, as a 2018 Thomas Built school bus was heading south on Skeet Club Road.

The Hyundai reportedly tried to turn right onto Skeet Club Road “at a high rate of speed” and drove into the oncoming lane of traffic, hitting the school bus. Police estimated that the car was going about 55 mph.

The Hyundai “hooked the cabin portion of the bus and rotated under the bus, causing the front of [the Hyundai] to peel back, exposing the interior of the vehicle.”
