• Two Charlotte residents have been arrested on felony prescription fraud charges in Mount Airy, according to city police department reports.
Teyon Sanchez Byers III, 24, and Dequasha Shalonda Laquei Wilson, 28, are each charged with attempting to obtain a controlled substance by fraud. This stemmed from an incident last Thursday at Mount Airy Drug on West Independence Boulevard, where they allegedly tried to pick up a fraudulent prescription for an unidentified drug.
Byers additionally is accused of carrying a concealed weapon (a Glock .40-caliber handgun), possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance (marijuana) and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was confined in the Surry County Jail under a $5,000 secured bond and Wilson, $500 secured, with both scheduled to appear in District Court on June 2.
• A case of obtaining property by false pretense was reported Friday, which involved an unknown suspect using the debit card of Brigiette Palomares of Austin Drive to make an online transfer of funds. The sum taken was not disclosed.
• Andrew Jordan Lindsay, 18, of 2490 Old Lowgap Road, Lowgap, was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, a felony, on April 19 after he was encountered by officers during a suspicious-vehicle investigation in a parking area of the New Market Crossing shopping center.
Lindsay also was charged with possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance (alprazolam) and possession of drug paraphernalia, identified as digital scales. He was jailed under a $1,000 secured bond and slated for a July 13 appearance in Surry District Court.
• Jacob Aaron Shinault, 25, of 713 Imogene Church Road, Lowgap, was jailed without bond on a domestic violence protective order violation on April 19. Shinault was encountered by police during a breaking and entering call at the residence of Hailey Faith Shinault on Maple Street. He is scheduled to be in District Court on June 22.
