Motorcycle rider killed in Davidson County crash

DAVIDSON COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — A motorcycle rider is dead as the result of a two-vehicle crash on Wednesday, according to North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

At around 4:27 p.m. on Wednesday, state troopers came to the scene of a crash involving a motorcycle and a van in the area of the 500 block of Arnold Road.

Investigators say that Jacob Alexander Denton, 27, of Lexington, was operating a 2009 Harley Davidson southbound on Arnold Road at a high rate of speed when he crashed into a 2024 Mercedes van that had backed onto Arnold Road.

Denton was ejected from the motorcycle and died at the scene as a result of his injuries. The van driver was not injured.

Troopers say that speed was “a major contributing factor” in the crash.

Witnesses at the scene told investigators that Denton was allegedly passing at a high rate speed.
