Lynchburg and Southside were the hardest-hit areas in terms of wind from Ian. As of 8:00 a.m. Saturday, 42% of Danville is without power. There is no word on when power will be restored.

More than 40,000 people are left in the dark Saturday morning following Ian’s strong winds.

Thousands of Virginia residents were left in the dark on Friday evening following downpours and wind gusts from remnants of Ian.
Many of the outages in our region are currently concentrated in the Southside and surrounding areas.
Below is a breakdown of the worst outages in our region, organized by power company and county as of 1:45 p.m. Saturday.
Appalachian Power: More than 26,000 total customers in our area are left without power.
