Man charged with concealment of death after body found in backseat, Forsyth County Sheriff's Office says

FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — Nearly a year after a man was found dead in the backseat of a car, a person has been charged.

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, on March 10, people who lived on Kenbridge Drive called law enforcement to say that there was a body in the back of a car. At the scene, they found Tyler Joseph Burdi, 23, dead.

Investigators believe that Burdi came to Kenbridge Drive with Chase Oliver Martin. They say that after they arrived, Martin “went looking” for Burdi and “accidentally struck” him while leaving the home. Then, Martin put Burdi in his car and drove away without calling for medical attention.

Martin returned to Kenbridge Drive where he was intercepted by Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office with Burdi in the back seat.

On January 18, 2024, Martin was charged with felony concealment of death after an investigation and an autopsy. He was taken into custody on Tuesday without incident and given a $10,000 secured bond.

“The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office is committed to being a voice to those who no longer have one and bring justice to those who have been unjust,” Sheriff Bobby F. Kimbrough said.
