Authorities said that a social media threat that shut down George Wythe High School and Wythe County Technology Center was not credible.
According to the Wythe County Sheriff’s Office, the threat was made from a home outside of the county.
ORIGINAL STORY
Students at George Wythe High School and the Wythe County Technology Center are now being released after a lockdown initiated by a social media threat on Monday evening.
Virginia State Police were called in to help with the investigation as K-9s performed a sniff search.
Students were safely in classrooms throughout the lockdown, according to Wytheville Police.
It’s not clear what the social media threat was that triggered the lockdown.
