With Tropical Storm Debby set to have an impact on our region, some counties have begun to announce school and city office closures and delays.
Here is a list of schools that have already announced delays to the academic year:
- Alleghany Highlands Public Schools: Closing early at noon on Thursday, Aug. 8
- Bath County Public Schools: Closed Thursday, Aug. 8
- Botetourt County Publics: Delayed until Aug. 12
- Carroll County Public Schools: Delayed until Monday, Aug. 12
- Central Virginia Community College: Closed Thursday, Aug. 8
- City of Roanoke Offices: Closed at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8
- Craig County Public Schools: Delayed until Aug. 12
- Danville Community College: Closed Thursday, Aug. 8
- Danville Public Schools: Closed Thursday, Aug. 8
- Franklin County Public Schools: All student activities and all student transportation canceled for Thursday, Aug. 8. All school and district offices will be closing at 12 p.m.
- Grayson County Public Schools: Delayed until Aug. 12.
- Martinsville City Public Schools: Closed Thursday, Aug. 8
- Mini-World Child Care Center, Inc-Botetourt
- Mini-World Child Care Center, Inc-Salem
- Nelson County Public Schools: Delayed Until Aug. 12
- Patrick & Henry Community College: Closing at noon on Thursday, Aug. 8
- Pittsylvania County Public Schools: Closed Thursday, Aug. 8
Thursday evening activities are canceled for Mt. Ivy Christian Church-Moneta as well. Additionally, Springlake Stockyard in Moneta said it will be closed on Saturday.
