Kernersville man wins $4 million after buying $3 ticket

KERNERSVILLE, N.C. (WGHP) — Craig Adolff, of Kernersville, bought a $3 Mega Millions ticket and won a $4 million prize, according to an NC Education Lottery news release.

Adolff bought his winning Quick Pick ticket for the April 23 drawing online.

He matched all five white balls to win $1 million, and the prize quadrupled to $4 million when the 4X Megaplier hit.

The $4 million prize ranked as the largest won nationally in the drawing.

The odds of matching numbers on all five white balls are 1 in 12.6 million.

Adolff arrived at lottery headquarters Friday to collect his prize.

After federal and state tax withholdings, he took home $2,860,001.
