Coolest Father’s Day temperatures in ten years accompanied by breezy sunshine

As expected, temperatures bottomed out in the 40s and 50s under mostly clear skies last night. A crisp, refreshing start to Father’s Day!

Keep the cooler air in mind if you have an early tee time with Dad today. We should warm up pretty quickly under full sunshine this morning.

Temperatures peak in the 70s and 80s this afternoon. If our forecast high of 81° in Roanoke verifies, it would be the coolest Father’s Day since 2012!

The high on that day was 78°. There have been many Father’s Days with highs in the 80s and 90s since, so it’s typically a pretty hot holiday.

I think we see similar temperatures on Monday, but there will be a dramatic warm-up for the first day of summer!

The extra heat and humidity could also lead to extra clouds and rain/storm chances. Thursday still appears to be the wettest day of the week.
