According to Virginia State Police, an Amherst man is dead after crashing on Airport Road, which is just north of Training Center Road.
Authorities say on Tuesday at about 7:48 a.m., Justin S. Howard, of Amherst, was driving south in a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado when he ran off the right side of the road and went through a fence. According to VSP, he then crossed over Training Center Road, hit a second fence, went through a field and hit a tree.
Virginia State Police has confirmed to WSLS 10 that Howard died at the scene.
Authorities say he was wearing a seat belt.
The crash remains under investigation.
