CATAWBA COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — A 2-year-old boy is dead as the result of a crash in Catawba County, according to North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
At around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, state troopers came to Buffalo Shoals Road near Abernathy Williams Road after getting a report of a crash.
Investigators say that a 2001 Saturn passenger car was driving south on Buffalo Shoals Road and struck a two-year-old child who was in the roadway.
The child was critically injured and airlifted to a local hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.
The driver of the Saturn was not injured.
Troopers say that no charges will be filed against the driver.
