(NewsNation) — “Sesame Street” characters Bert and Ernie were mentioned in the federal sex crimes trial against Sean “Diddy” Combs on Thursday.
Combs’ ex-girlfriend, testifying under the pseudonym “Jane”, took the stand Thursday, alleging he manipulated her into performing sex acts with male sex workers throughout their relationship from 2021 until his arrest in 2024.
During her testimony, Jane said she and Combs shared pet names, including “Sean, Baby, Ernie, Snookums.”
Jane’s nickname for Combs, “Ernie,” was inspired by the classic “Sesame Street” duo Bert and Ernie.
When asked about the reasoning behind the pet name, she explained, “Because that was our nickname for one another.”
Jane said her nickname from Combs was “Bert.”
Jane appeared for a second day of testimony Friday in Diddy’s sex trafficking trial. The hip-hop mogul, 55, has pleaded not guilty to running his business empire as a racketeering enterprise that enabled and concealed the abuse of women over two decades. If convicted, he faces 15 years to life.
