RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A Virginia woman was arrested by Raleigh police Thursday on charges connected to the theft of more than 40 driver’s licenses and passports, warrants show.
Kimberly Michele Kretzer Mason, 52, of Portsmouth, Va. is accused of possessing 41 different driver’s licenses from various states and three different U.S. passport cards belonging to others for her personal use, according to warrants filed by the Raleigh Police Department.
Warrants show Mason is charged with 44 counts of identity theft, a felony offense.
According to court documents, Mason is also wanted in Virginia on three counts of using ID with intent to defraud, two counts of obtaining money by false pretense, and one count of uttering writing.
Court records show Mason was given a total of $1 million secured bond. She is scheduled to make her first appearance in Wake County court Friday.
According to a warrant, 54-year-old Toby Lee Porter of Portsmouth was also arrested by Raleigh police Thursday. He is accused of possessing two different driver’s licenses from other people for his personal use and to book a motel, as well as possessing counterfeit IDs and bank cards.
The warrant shows Porter is charged with two counts of identity theft and three counts aiding and abetting forgery, also felony offenses.
According to court records, Porter was given $150,000 secured bond. He is scheduled to make his first appearance in Wake County court Friday.
The warrants do not say if the arrests of Mason and Porter are connected. CBS 17 has reached out to Raleigh police for more information.
