Virginia reporting 20 coronavirus-related deaths

With 743 coronavirus cases statewide, 20 Virginians have died so far after contracting the coronavirus.

Virginia reported its first coronavirus-related death on March 14.

Of the 20 deaths, eight have been from residents of the Peninsula Health District, which is comprised of James City and York counties, as well as the cities of Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson and Williamsburg.

Here’s the list of those who have died after contracting COVID-19:

  3. <a href=”https://www.wsls.com/news/2020/03/21/third-person-in-virginia-dies-of-coronavirus/” target=_blank>A Fairfax County man in his 60s.</a> His cause of death was reported as respiratory failure as a result of coronavirus. His death was announced on March 21.
  4. <a href=”https://www.wsls.com/news/2020/03/22/three-more-people-have-died-from-coronavirus-in-virginia/” target=_blank>A woman in her 80s</a> from Newport News. Her cause of death was respiratory failure. Her death was announced on March 22.
  5. <a href=”https://www.wsls.com/news/2020/03/22/three-more-people-have-died-from-coronavirus-in-virginia/” target=_blank>A woman in her 80s</a> from Williamsburg. Her cause of death was respiratory failure. Her death was announced on March 22.
  6. <a href=”https://www.wsls.com/news/2020/03/22/three-more-people-have-died-from-coronavirus-in-virginia/” target=_blank>A woman in her 80s</a> from James City County. Her cause of death was respiratory failure. Her death was announced on March 22.
  7. <a href=”https://www.wsls.com/news/2020/03/23/virginia-beach-man-is-states-seventh-coronavirus-death/” target=_blank>A Virginia Beach man in his 70s</a> who had underlying health conditions and died of acute respiratory failure while hospitalized. His death was announced on March 23.
  8. The first<a href=”https://www.wsls.com/news/local/2020/03/24/two-elderly-virginians-are-states-8th-9th-coronavirus-deaths/” target=_blank> elderly Henrico County resident</a> who lived at the Canterbury Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. This death was announced on March 24.
  9. The second<a href=”https://www.wsls.com/news/local/2020/03/24/two-elderly-virginians-are-states-8th-9th-coronavirus-deaths/” target=_blank> elderly Henrico County resident</a> who lived at the Canterbury Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. This death was announced on March 24.
  10. <a href=”https://www.wsls.com/news/local/2020/03/25/another-virginian-has-died-due-to-coronavirus/” target=_blank>Landon Spradlin, 66, from Pittsylvania County,</a> was passing through North Carolina when he died on March 25 due to coronavirus complications.
  11. A woman in her 80s living in the Peninsula Health District. Her cause of death was respiratory failure. Her death was announced during Gov. Northam’s March 25 new conference.

  13. The third<a href=”https://www.wsls.com/news/local/2020/03/25/third-coronavirus-patient-at-a-henrico-county-nursing-home-has-died/” target=_blank> elderly Henrico County resident</a> who lived at the Canterbury Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. This death was announced on March 25.
  14. <a href=”https://www.loudoun.gov/civicalerts.aspx?AID=5638″ target=_blank>A Loudoun County woman in her 70s</a>. She was hospitalized and had previously tested positive for the virus that causes COVID-19. Her close contacts were previously investigated. Her cause of death was respiratory failure as a result of COVID-19. Her death was announced on March 26.
  15. The fourth<a href=”https://www.wsls.com/news/2020/03/26/fourth-person-at-henrico-county-rehab-center-dies-from-coronavirus/” target=_blank> elderly Henrico County resident</a> who lived at the Canterbury Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. This death was announced on March 26.
  16. The fifth<a href=”https://www.wsls.com/news/2020/03/27/two-more-deaths-reported-at-virginia-facility-with-coronavirus-outbreak/” target=_blank> elderly Henrico County resident</a> who lived at the Canterbury Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. This death was announced on March 27.
  17. The sixth<a href=”https://www.wsls.com/news/2020/03/27/two-more-deaths-reported-at-virginia-facility-with-coronavirus-outbreak/” target=_blank> elderly Henrico County resident</a> who lived at the Canterbury Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. This death was announced on March 27.
  18. <a href=”http://www.vdh.virginia.gov/news/2020-regional-news-releases/prince-william-health-district-announces-fatality-of-resident-from-covid-19/” target=_blank>A man in his 70s who lives in Prince William County</a> who had chronic medical conditions. The cause of death was respiratory failure as a result COVID-19. His death was announced on March 27.
  19. <a href=”https://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/health/second-covid-19-death-in-fairfax-health-district” target=_blank>A Fairfax County man in his 60s</a> who acquired COVID-19 through travel, according to the health department. The cause of death was the result of complications of COVID-19. His death was announced on March 27.
  20. <a href=”http://www.vdh.virginia.gov/news/2020-regional-news-releases/western-tidewater-health-district-reports-first-covid-19-related-death/” target=_blank>A man in his 60s</a> living in the Western Tidewater Health District, according to health department officials. He was being treated in a hospital where he died due to respiratory failure. He had several underlying medical conditions, which exacerbated the effects of COVID-19. His death was announced on March 28. This health district covers Isle of Wight and Southampton counties, as well as the cities of Franklin and Suffolk.
