Teen arrested after man shot on Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive in Asheboro

ASHEBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — The teenager accused of shooting a man before leaving the scene was arrested Thursday, according to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office.

Kelvin Amad Cook, 18, was arrested around 4:39 a.m. by the Asheboro Police Department.

At about 12:56 p.m. on Tuesday, police responded to a report of a shooting on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, near Harrison Street. The caller had told police that a man had been shot in the leg and a suspect had run away from the scene. The victim was taken to a local hospital. Police said a suspect was identified after the victim was taken to the hospital.

Warrants were then obtained on 18-year-old Kelvin Amad Cook, for:

On Thursday, a misdemeanor probation violation charge was added.

Cook was given a $15,000 bond.
