More than 40 homes have suffered ‘catastrophic’ structural damage after severe weather ripped across Bedford County Friday morning, according to Shelley Basinger, Public Information Officer for Bedford County.
This comes after a tornado warning was issued for the area at about 7:30 a.m.
So far, there have been no fatalities reported, but there have been three reported injuries, according to authorities.
Authorities say first responders are out assessing the damage as extensive search and rescue operations continue.
Officials are estimating 2.5 miles of damage and some homes are a total loss after a possible tornado in the area Friday morning. The National Weather Service says surveys will take place Saturday.

Authorities urge residents to avoid the area affected by severe weather and say Bethan Church Circle is closed at this time.

While Bedford County Public Schools were not closed Friday, school leaders say student and staff safety is always their prime concern.
