Radford city schools to delay start of school by two weeks

Radford students will be heading back to the classroom two weeks later than originally planned.

Officials said the delay is due to repairs and upgrades that took longer than expected due to a shortage in workers and products.

“RCPS has made the difficult decision to push the opening of school back by 2 weeks in an effort to support the workers in completing the projects and to ensure that all students are able to enter buildings that are safe, comfortable, and conducive to learning,” said Robert Graham, superintendent of Radford City Public Schools.

The first days of school in Radford will now be as follows:

First days of school: August 26, 29 (Staggered Start)

The back-to-school delay also means originally scheduled open houses have been rescheduled for the following dates and times:
