President Trump gives details about his falling out with Jeffrey Epstein

WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – President Donald Trump is unable to escape questions about the Epstein files even while abroad.  Reporters pressed the commander-in-chief while in Scotland Monday.

The questions came during a meeting with the British prime minister.  The two met to talk about a trade deal the countries made last month.

President Trump pointed the finger instead at high profile Democrats.

“I never had the privilege of going to his island…Bill Clinton went there supposedly 28 times,” said Trump.

The president did reveal why he kicked Epstein out of his Palm Beach club years ago.

“He did something that was inappropriate. He hired help, and I said, don’t ever do that again. He stole people that work for me. I said, don’t ever do that again. He did it again and I threw him out of the place,” said Trump.

In Ohio Monday Vice President JD Vance defended the president.  He says the Department of Justice is working to release what they can.

“Some of that stuff takes time. You’ve got to sift that stuff, you’ve got to compile that stuff. You’ve got to redact some victims’ names so that you protect the victims,” said Vance.

Democratic Congressman Ro Khanna and Republican Congressman Thomas Massie are teaming up to introduce a bill forcing the DOJ to turn the files over.

“It’s not a subpoena,” said Massie.

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) sent lawmakers home early last week.  He says he’s skeptical of the bill’s protections.  He has endorsed a non-binding resolution calling for the release of the Epstein files.
