President Trump calls for Gaza aid and ceasefire

WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – President Donald Trump says he wants the fighting in Gaza and Ukraine to end.

The president threatened tariffs against Russia if there’s no ceasefire in the next ten to 12 days and he says Israel’s president needs to let more food into Gaza as children and adults suffer from malnutrition.

Israeli leaders say they’re now allowing aid into parts of Gaza for 10 hours a day.

Jordan and the United Arab Emirates are dropping food into Gaza.

The U.K..’s prime minister, Keir Starmer, says that’s not enough.

“The trucks need to get in. Because that’s the only way you can get the volume in,” said Starmer.

Since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, Israel has severely restricted aid to Gaza’s population of over two million.

Israeli leaders argue Hamas siphons off aid, but Gaza’s health ministry said on Monday two children died in the Gaza strip because of malnutrition over the past 24 hours.

“There is no starvation in Gaza. We enable humanitarian aid throughout the duration of the war,” said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says there’s no starvation in Gaza.

While President Trump continues to push for a ceasefire in Gaza, he also shortened the time frame for Russia to reach a ceasefire with Ukraine.  10 to 12 days from now instead of the 50 days he announced earlier this month.

“Too many people are dying. It’s a really bloody war,” said Trump.

He says if Russia doesn’t end the war he’ll impose severe sanctions and tariffs on any country that trades with Russia.
