President Trump announces 2027 NFL draft will be held in Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – President Donald Trump announced Monday afternoon that the 2027 NFL draft will be held in Washington, D.C.

The president made the announcement alongside NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser and Washington Commanders owner Josh Harris.

The president said the draft is a “celebration of one of the country’s most cherished cultural institutions.”

It will be the first time the draft is held in the nation’s capital and the plan is to hold it on the National Mall.

“It’s such an honor to have that, I think it will be great for everybody. Great for our country. It’s going to be something very special. There’s no scene like it. There’s no site like it,” said Trump.

Commissioner Goodell said he expects over a million people to attend the three-day event in 2027.
