Performance to highlight black history

The Charles H. Stone Memorial Library will be hosting a Black History Month Celebration from 6:30 – 8 p.m. on Monday .

The evening will feature the performance of Pilot Mountain business owner and town commissioner Hilda Willis in an interactive storytelling event about black inventors throughout history.

An established producer and creative director in the arts and entertainment industry, Willis has previously served as the director of education and regional consultant for the National August Wilson Monologue Competition. In this role, she created and directed an August Wilson Montage, involving youth from across the country for eight years in a production on Broadway at the August Wilson Theater.

“This will be an entertaining and educational evening for the entire family,” Charles Stone Library Program Assistant Diane Blakemore said.

Refreshments will be served at the end of the performance. The celebzration is free and open to the public.
