North Carolina woman wins $2 million after buying $20 scratch-off at convenience store

HERTFORD COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — Odessa Chamblee, of Ahoskie, bought a $20 scratch-off and won a $2 million prize, according to an NC Education Lottery news release.

She bought her winning 100X The Cash ticket from the Village Store on N.C. 41 in Wallace.

When Chamblee arrived on Tuesday to collect her winnings, she could choose to receive the prize as an annuity of $100,000 over 20 years or a lump sum of $1.2 million.

She chose the lump sum of $1.2 million.

After required state and federal tax withholdings, she took home $858,006.
