North Carolina woman wins $1 million after buying ticket at 7-Eleven

WILSON, N.C. (WGHP) — Janet Johnson, of Wilson, bought a $25 scratch-off ticket and won a $1 million top prize, according to an NC Education Lottery news release.

Johnson bought her winning Extreme Cash ticket from the 7-Eleven on Airport Boulevard West in Wilson.

When Johnson arrived at lottery headquarters Thursday, she had a decision to make.

She could choose to receive the prize as an annuity of $50,000 over 20 years or a lump sum of $600,000.

She chose the lump sum of $600,000.

After required state and federal tax withholdings, she took home $429,007.
