Nearly 90,000 without power across Southwest, Central Virginia

Saturday’s winter weather is causing thousands to lose power.

As of 1:15 p.m., Appalachian Power is reporting 37,840 customers without power in Virginia. Here’s a county-by-county breakdown of the 10 counties with the most outages:

As of 1:15 p.m., Dominion is reporting 14,581 customers without power in our region. Here’s a county-by-county breakdown:

  • 6,508 outages in Halifax County
  • 4,209 outages in Pittsylvania County
  • 2,083 outages in Charlotte County
  • 1,706 outages in Campbell County
  • 75 outages in Appomattox County

As of 1:15 p.m., Mecklenburg Electric Cooperative is reporting:

  • 4,058 outages in Pittsylvania County
  • 3,740 outages in Halifax County
  • 582 outages in Charlotte County

As of 1:27 p.m., Danville Utilities reports 29,100 customers are without power.
