More than 50,000 without power as snow rolls through Southwest, Central Virginia

Monday morning’s snow has left many without power.

As of 1:44 p.m., Appalachian Power is reporting 39,440 customers without power in Virginia.

Here’s a county-by-county breakdown of the 10 counties with the most outages:

As of 1:45 p.m., Dominion Energy is reporting 2,416 customers in our area without power. Here’s a county-by-county breakdown:

  • 1,141 in Appomattox County
  • 493 in Campbell County
  • 342 in Halifax County
  • 331 in Pittsylvania County
  • 37 in Alleghany County
  • 32 in Rockbridge County
  • 25 in Charlotte County
  • 15 in Nelson County

As of 1:54 p.m., Danville Utilities is reporting 7,176 customers without power. To see a full map of outages, click here.

As of 1:53 p.m., Craig-Botetourt Rural Electric Cooperative is reporting 703 customers in our area without power. Here’s a county-by-county breakdown:

  • 303 in Craig County
  • 265 in Alleghany County
  • 97 in Botetourt County
  • 30 in Montgomery County
  • 14 in Roanoke County
  • 7 in Giles County

As of 1:56 p.m., the Central Virginia Electric Cooperative is reporting 4,668 customers in our area without power. Here’s a county-by-county breakdown:

  • 4,330 in Nelson County
  • 227 in Appomattox
  • 111 in Amherst County
