Monthly farmer’s mart in Pilot is Saturday

Downtown Pilot Mountain will be the site of the second Farmers’ Market on Main Saturday morning and, after a promising beginning last month, organizers are hoping for another day with plenty to offer.

Plans are for the event to be held on the second Saturday of each month from 8 a.m. until noon at least through November. Items will be on display at 223 E. Main St. on the lawn in front of The Art of Massage and Wellness.

Local residents will be on hand to show off their farming and craft-making skills, offering a variety of items for review and possible purchase. Expected items include plants, produce, crafts and art.

Co-organizers for the venture are Jennifer Tinnes and Jennifer Hatcher.

“We’re partnering to provide an opportunity for people to find fresh local fruits and vegetables as well as some handmade crafts,” Tinnes noted. “This gives our local people a chance to earn a little extra income as well as for the community to come outside and find some food essentials. A lot of people have found themselves at home this summer with time on their hands to grow gardens and develop other skills.”

“This gives people a chance to get out safely,” she continued. “We have a unique community space on a grassy lawn with plenty of room for spacing and some shade.”

Face masks and social distancing are required for vendors and encouraged for those attending.

“Our first one last month was magical,” Tinnes said. “Spirits were high and everyone was positive and respectful of each other. People had a good time getting outside and there was plenty of good energy.”

Additional vendor space is still available for future markets. Vendor applications and agreement forms can be found on the event Facebook page, “The Farmer’s Market on Main.”
