CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – Twelve people have been injured in a reported assault at a local southwest Charlotte McDonald’s, according to Medic.
The incident happened just before 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, at the McDonald’s located in the 4400 block of South Tryon Street, just blocks away from several popular restaurants and breweries. CMPD responded to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon with injury.
Medic confirms 12 people sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the assault. Three people were transported to the hospital for treatment, with nine being treated at the scene.
Witnesses and Medic at the McDonald’s told Queen City News that those involved were sprayed with a “mace-like” substance during the assault.
Witnesses said two employees were arguing outside, and one of them reportedly called their family, and they came and chased the worker inside, and she turned around and sprayed them.
“The initial investigation suggests an altercation took place within a restaurant,” Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police confirmed with QCN.
Additional details surrounding this incident are limited at this time. Queen City News has reached back out to CMPD and McDonald’s for more information.
