Max is rolling out paid account sharing: What to know

(NEXSTAR) — This week, Warner Bros. Discovery announced its streaming service Max — previously HBO Max — would begin rolling out a new feature allowing subscribers to “add on” extra members to their accounts for an additional fee. Max is the latest streaming platform to implement a paid “extra member” approach, which Netflix also adopted years ago.

In a statement, JB Perrette, Warner Bros. Discovery’s CEO/President of Global Streaming and Games, said the updates will give existing subscribers the ability to share with those outside their household “in an uninterrupted fashion.”
