FORSYTH COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office charged a man following an overnight shooting in Winston-Salem on Thursday.
Around 1:10 a.m., Forsyth County deputies responded to the 5800 block of Gumtree Road when they were told about a shooting.
Arriving deputies learned 21-year-old Preston Wilson Fansler had been shot. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Investigators say Fansler and another male got into a fight, and Fansler fired several shots at the male victim.
The male victim was not injured and shot Fansler.
Investigators also say Fansler had assaulted a female during a gathering at the same location.
Fansler has been charged with one felony count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and one misdemeanor count of assault on a female.
At this time, the male victim will not face any charges, deputies say.
