THOMASVILLE, N.C. (WGHP) — A man is facing several charges after an alleged jewelry store break-in and police chase, according to Davidson County warrants.
Warrants accuse Reginald Martinez Grissom, 44, of Concord, of breaking into Avis Fine Jewelry located at 709 Randolph Street in Thomasville. After breaking into the business, he allegedly stole gold and silver necklaces worth around $139,000.
Grissom allegedly eluded arrest by “driving recklessly” away from a pursuing officer after the break-in, driving at speeds over 15 mph over the speed limit on Randolph Street and Julian Avenue, according to warrants.
Warrants also accuse Grissom of damaging a marked patrol vehicle in a hit-and-run on Julian Avenue and backing into a pursuing officer’s car.
A sledgehammer with a wooden handle was also found in Grissom’s possession, according to warrants.
As a result of the alleged break-in and ensuing police chase, Grissom is being charged with the following:
- Felony breaking and/or entering
- Felony larceny after breaking and entering
- Felony flee to elude arrest with a motor vehicle
- Felony possession of burglary tools
- Misdemeanor reckless driving to endanger
- Misdemeanor resisting a public officer
- Misdemeanor hit-and-run
- Driving with an expired operator’s license
- Failure to maintain lane control
- Failure to wear a seat belt
- Felony possession of stolen goods/property
- Misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon
No bond amount has been set and Grissom’s release has not been authorized, as of Wednesday. He is scheduled to appear in the Davidson County District Courthouse on March 20.
