Images released of suspected Wythe County school bus thief

UPDATE: Sept. 14, 2020 – 2:01 p.m.

The Wytheville Police Department has released information about the man it belives stole a school bus early Sunday morning and drove it to Roanoke.

The bus, which was stolen from the Wythe County School Bus Garage at about 5:20 a.m. was found abandoned Sunday afternoon behind a restaurant in Roanoke, according to police.

The suspect is believed to be in his mid-30s and has multiple tattoos on both arms.

Anyone with information about this man or the stolen school bus is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 276-223-3300 or e-mail wpdtips@wytheville.org.

The stolen bus was found Sunday in Roanoke, according to the Wythe County Sheriff’s Office.

The Wythe County Sheriff’s Office and school system need your help finding a bus some allegedly took Saturday night.

School bus number 32 was taken from the county bus garage, according to a sheriff’s office Facebook post.

The bus should have damage to it since it struck other vehicles in the lot and ran over the gate as it exited the property.
