High Point Fire Station 13 out of service

HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) — Engine Company 13 and Rescue Company 1, assigned to Fire Station 13 on Ambassador Court, are out of service, according to a Facebook post from the High Point Firefighters Association.

The closure is “due to insufficient manpower on duty to accommodate sick leave” and no one is available to cover for them.

Our commitment remains strong: we continue to advocate for the staffing levels necessary to cover vacation, sick leave, and training leave, while ensuring every apparatus in the City of High Point is properly staffed to protect our citizens. The Fire Department Administration, City Management, and City Council acknowledging that our fire department is insufficiently staffed to provide the level of service our community deserves, is the first step.

While we eagerly welcome the SAFER Grant to hire 24 additional firefighters 👩‍🚒👨‍🚒, we must also recognize the additional challenges ahead in meeting its performance and technical requirements.

💪 Our mission continues: to fight for the resources and staffing needed to keep High Point safe.
