GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — Funeral arrangements for Yvonne Johnson, Greensboro city councilwoman and former mayor, have been set, according to her daughter.

According to a Facebook post from Lisa Johnson-Tonkins, visitation will be held Friday, December 13 at Perry J. Brown Funeral Home, located at 909 East Market Street in Greensboro, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

On Sunday, December 13, at 11 a.m., Johnson will be transported by a horse-drawn carriage to her funeral service at Bennett College Chapel, located at 900 East Washington Street in Greensboro.

“She had very specific instructions regarding the arrangements for her homegoing celebration, including her desire to be transported by a horse-drawn carriage to her funeral service,” Johnson-Tonkins said in the post.

Family visitation is at 12 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m.

“She also requested that her services be held at her beloved alma mater, Bennett College for Women. In light of her profound love for Bennett, our family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Bennett College in her honor,” Johnson-Tonkins said.

The service will be streamed at www.bennett.edu/live.
