Family identifies 8-year-old boy who died after being shot in Roanoke

10 News has learned that Camden Brown, is the boy who died after being shot on Monday in Roanoke, according to his family.

Camden, who was 8 years old, attended Garden City Elementary School, according to the school division.

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched. The family is looking to raise $4,000 to help offset funeral costs and take care of other needs like counseling for his brothers and sisters.

A boy has died after a shooting in Roanoke on Monday evening, according to police.

Authorities said that the boy was under 10.

The shooting happened in the 1600 block of Queen Ann Drive SE around 5:40 p.m., officers said.

Authorities said no other information will be released at this time.

A child is in the hospital with serious injuries after a shooting in Roanoke Monday evening.

Roanoke police responded to a home in the 1600 block of Queen Ann Drive SE for reports of a shooting that happened at about 5:40 p.m.

Officers arrived to find a boy under 10 years old suffering from a serious gunshot wound. He was later transported to the hospital for his injuries.

Police believe this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the community.
