Expect scattered showers, thunderstorms in Piedmont Triad

(WGHP) — After a slight break from the rain on Friday, scattered showers and thunderstorms will return to the Piedmont.

Mostly to partly cloudy skies on Friday with highs in the upper 80s. With daytime heating, a few afternoon and evening thunderstorms are possible. If a severe thunderstorm develops during the day, damaging wind gusts and some hail will be possible. Chance of rain 30%.

On Saturday, a cold front will move a little closer to the Carolinas. This means with daytime heating, we will have a better chance for scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms. A few thunderstorms on Saturday will be capable of producing damaging wind gusts and large hail. Chance of rain 40%. Highs on Saturday will be in the upper 80s.

Our cold front will continue to linger across the Carolinas on Sunday. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will remain in the forecast with highs in the low to middle 80s. Chance of rain 50%.

Monday, our cold front will dissipate. Warm and muggy conditions will continue to cover the Piedmont with highs in the middle 80s. Chance of rain 25%.

Another cold front will arrive on Tuesday, giving us a better chance for scattered showers and thunderstorms. Highs on Tuesday will be in the lower 80s. Chance of rain 60%.

The cold front will slowly crawl across the Piedmont on Wednesday. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will continue with highs in the lower 80s. Chance of rain 40%.

On Thursday, our front will still be in the region. That means scattered showers and thunderstorm chances will continue with highs in the lower 80s. Chance of rain 40%.
