DAR installs new member

The Jonathan Hunt Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution held a virtual meeting on Saturday, June 6.

Renee Francis of Mount Airy presented a program on Lineage Research and her Patriot ancestor, Captain William Bobbitt. Captain Bobbitt participated in the Battle of Shallowford in Yadkin County on Oct. 14, 1780.

Following the program, the chapter installed a new member, Carol McDowell of Elkin.

In addition new officers were installed. The new officers are: Regent, Becky Dursee; Vice Regent, Kay Hamlin; Chaplain, Ginger Branyon; Recording Secretary, Sherry Riddle; Corresponding Secretary, Beth Martin; Treasurer, Pam Fencl; Registrar, Carol Snyder; Historian, Connie Randleman; Librarian, Debra Bullard and Honorary Regent, Ann Merlo.
