City parks vendor sale is Saturday

After a year off because of the pandemic, Mount Airy Parks and Rec will host its vendor fair Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Family Services Supervisor for Mount Airy Parks and Rec took over running this event three years ago.

“I want to help get the word out,” Wilson said.

This event is one of many that Mount Airy Parks and Rec hosts to help benefit the United Fund of Surry each year.

There are 10 scheduled vendors for this event with items ranging from essential oils, to handmade ornaments, to boutique clothing, just to name a few.

The goal every year is to raise $250 but things might not go as well this year.

“Taking a year off because of COVID took some of our normal vendors out of the event,” said Wilson. “Were looking at an event a little smaller than normal this year.”

The last time the sale was held, which was two years ago, Mount Airy Parks and Rec exceeded its goal of $250 by raising $525. They have raised even more prior to this.

“The vendors we have now are new vendors for us but they help benefit the program and our community so much,” Wilson said.

The event was originally scheduled to be held at Riverside Park but because of the forecasted chilly temperatures, it was moved indoors.

The event will be held in the gym of Reeves Community Center. Parking will be available in the Cherry Street lot to the right of Reeves Community Center and also in the lot directly across.

Those who are not members should enter through the front door of the building because all other doors require a key card.
