Car found, driver wanted after fatal hit-and-run in Roanoke

Authorities say they have found the car that was involved in a hit-and-run in Roanoke on Monday morning.

According to police, officers were called about a crash in the 2000 block of Hershberger Road NW around 1:30 a.m.

When officers arrived, they say they found a woman in the road and she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Early evidence suggests that the woman and a man who wasn’t hurt during the crash were in the road when a car hit the woman and drove away, according to police.

Officers say they were able to get a description of the car from witnesses and later found the car at Piedmont Park.

The driver of the car is still wanted, and no arrests have been made.

A pedestrian is dead after a crash on Hershberger Road that happened early Monday morning, according to police.

Authorities say the accident happened around 1:30 a.m. on the bridge over Aviation Drive.

According to police, a portion of Hershberger Road going east will be closed near Valley View Blvd.
