Car crashes into Yadkin County home; second car through house crash on road in a year

YADKIN COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — A car crashed into a Yadkin County home on Friday night, according to the Yadkinville Fire Department.

At around 5 p.m. on Friday, a report of a crash involving a car and a home was received on the 1800 block of Sugartown Road.

The fire department says that the driver lost control of the car and crashed into the home. No one was injured as a result of the crash.

This is the second time in less than a year that a car has crashed into a home on Sugartown Road.

There is no further information available at this time.

Previous crash

In April 2023, a car crashed the roof of a home on Suagrtown Road.

Firefighters say that a teenager was driving down Sugartown Road when he lost control of the car. According to a citation report, the car was driving over 70 mph “on a rain-soaked roadway.”

The vehicle went up a parked car in the driveway like a ramp and crashed through the roof of a home.

Two adults and two children were in the home and were not injured in the crash, according to the fire department. Two people were in the car when it crashed and were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The citation report says the driver, who was 17 years old, admitted to drinking alcohol earlier. Officers tested the driver for alcohol about 4 and a half hours after the crash, and the test returned a blood alcohol level of 0.02.

In North Carolina, it is illegal to drive a vehicle with an alcohol concentration of 0.08 or higher, but the state observes a zero-tolerance policy for drivers under the age of 21.

The driver was charged with driving while intoxicated under the age of 21 and reckless driving.

Paul Driver was asleep around 2 a.m. that night when he heard his wife yelling from the front of the house, and when he got up he saw the front of a car in his living room.
