Boil water notice issued for Shawsville, Elliston

UPDATE – Oct. 28

A boil water notice is in effect for residents in Shawsville and Elliston as crews are working to restore water in these areas, according to the Montgomery County Public Service Authority.

Residents are urged to only use water when absolutely necessary through 5 p.m. Sunday.

The PSA said the boil water notice will remain in effect until water samples collected meet state and federal drinking water standards.

Officials said from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, affected residents can pick up bottled drinking water at the Elliston Volunteer Fire Department.

The PSA provided the following instructions for boiling water:

Even if water service was not interrupted for some PSA customers in the Shawsville and Elliston areas, officials said they still need to boil their water before use.

UPDATE

According to Montgomery County officials, residents affected by the water outage can pick up drinking water Friday from 8:30 to 11 p.m. at the Elliston Volunteer Fire Department.

Anyone in need of assistance obtaining the water to do being unable to drive should call 540-391-4481.

Residents in Shawsville and Elliston are being impacted by a water outage.

The Montgomery County Public Service Authority said crews are in the process of fixing the issue as of 3:50 p.m. Friday.

PSA said crews are working to locate the problem and make repairs, and we’re told they will continue to work until the water is restored.

A restoration time has not been provided.
