20-year-old arrested, charged with second-degree murder in Roanoke 7-Eleven shooting

UPDATE – 2:50 P.M., April 17

A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder in connection to the fatal shooting at the Grandin 7-Eleven, according to police.

Authorities said Isaiah Bladwin of Roanoke was identified as a suspect early on in the investigation.

Warrants were obtained overnight according to police and Baldwin was taken into custody early Monday by the U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force without any issues.

Baldwin was taken to the Roanoke Police Department to speak with detectives and was taken into custody by the Roanoke Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said this remains an ongoing investigation.

One person dead following shooting at Grandin 7-Eleven, according to police

Roanoke Police say one person is dead following a shooting at the 7-Eleven on Grandin Road SW.

The Roanoke Police Department was alerted about a shooting shortly before 9 p.m. and remained on scene until about 5 a.m.

Police say there is no active threat to the surrounding community.

No word on a suspect or suspects at this time.

This is the fifth deadly shooting in Roanoke this year.
